Very nice.

Well, there’s a third option, which is to build everything from scratch. You have your own email marketing application and you have your own SMTP server, so you need to build everything. Now you may tell me, why do I want to bother my head with building everything, I just go with a company and do everything from that company. This article is about this:

Because even if you are using free SMTP like Amazon AWS, or SendGrid these companies can detect any bulk mailer and can block you.

So, the best option is to build your own email marketing system, your own SMTP and your own application.

Normal Email Marketers

Anyway, now we have a second type which is the normal email marketers, those people who have websites, collect emails, have something to promote their own services and so on. So, what to choose?

To make things really easy for you, if you are a beginner, if you have just started your business, you don’t have any follower base and so on, just go and sign up for an email marketing company. Go and select Mailchimp, Aweber, or any company and start with their free plan and test everything. See how things work.

Now, what if you have a big subscriber base like maybe 10,000 leads or maybe 20,000 customers or clients or contact? If you go with MailChimp for example; If you click on calculate your price and you go and select like 15 or 25 thousand contacts, you will see that it will cost you around 200 dollars per month and this price may not fit anyone of you.

So, it may be somehow high for some new starters or maybe those who don’t have that big online business and so on. So, if that is your case, if you can’t handle email marketing company prices, I advise you to go with a premium SMTP service like Amazon AWS with your own email marketing application like MailWizz.

You combine and build a system in like only one day or two days, you can start sending emails and pay as you go. You can send up to 100,000 emails for only ten dollars on Amazon AWS. It’s really awesome.

So, this is your first choice if you have a big contact list and you don’t have that budget, just select a premium SMTP service with an email marketing application. So, build, if you want a semi-email marketing system. Or you can choose to build your own SMTP also if you have the time and the effort and patience to learn and set up and run up your SMTP service. It’s up to you also, it may be a lot cheaper because you will buy a VPN server and every other thing else would be unlimited.

To email unlimited customers, you can send as many as your server can handle emails and so on. So, let’s sum up again. If you are a starter, you don’t have a budget, you can build your own system, it would be a lot cheaper. I recommend starting with Amazon AWS, it’s super easy, super powerful and super cheap. If you have that small budget, you can go and start with MailChimp or you can start with the free plan, not only Mailchimp, I mean every email marketing company.

So, 200 dollars or maybe 500 dollars in will not be that big deal, but in some cases, you have a big follower base like in my case, I have a lot of followers, on my email list but I don’t always send promotional emails. I don’t use email marketing always to sell my services. No, all my emails are almost updates, newsletters, maybe notifications, maybe articles and posts and so on.

So, I’m not getting revenue, I’m only getting traffic or maybe keeping my followers engaged with my website. So Mailchimp will be costly for me in my case, or in your case if you are thinking the same way. So also, I prefer in this case, to go with your own system.

Let’s sum it up again. If you are a bulk mailer, you can’t use a company, just go and build your own system. If you are a normal email marketer, if you have the budget, go and select a company. If you don’t have the budget, so go and build your own system. Very easy, very simple, I think.
